Frequently Asked Questions

Bike Tours

  • The itineraries combined with the assisted electric bicycles that we offer in our bike tours are developed to be suitable to all shapes of bodies. We carefully assess the itineraries so that to select the gentler and less trafficked routes in order to end up with the safer possibilities. The only characteristic that is essential to have prior to joining us is at least a minimum of technical ability to drive a mountain bike under gravel or dirt road. Nothing hard such as going downhill, we just need that you feel comfortable in steering and braking under these pavements. So, if you have already, even if a while ago, riden a MTB in these conditions, we’re quite sure that you’re skilled to join us. Just remembering that prior to any of our tours, we’ll provide you a safety talk, or, if necessary, mentoring, on how to use the assited electrical bikes and will also give free time to test drive them under these conditions, under the supervision of the Tour Leader. To wrap it up, we’ll make everything in our control to make you relax, empower yourself and have a great time!

  • Nowadays there’s a profusion of models and types of what the market calls, generically, “Ebikes”. In our tours, though, we’ll only offer assisted electrical bikes, meaning that you’ll always have to push the pedal in order to activate the electrical assistance. Here in Europe legislation determines the maximum speed limit as 25 kph/15 mph for whichever assisted electrical means (mopeds, scooters, Ebikes). So, whenever you reach this speed limit, the electric assistance will kick out. But don’t worry, since safety is a major concern for us, hardly we’ll go that fast in our tours

  • Yes, in all of our bike tours the rental of the electric assisted mountain bikes is already included in the price.

  • In order to maximize the the quality of our guests experiences, we stick to small groups. Our maximum limit is 8 people per tour leader.

  • The safety gear such as helmets will be provided by us. It is up to you to bring personal items such as:

    • Sunglasses (or presciption glasses if applicable) - Mandatory Equipment

    • Water bottle or similar

    • Closed shoes (sandals, slippers or open shoes will not be accepted). If you have specific shoes with cleats, please let us know in advance.

    We also recommend bringing:

    • Sun protection;

    • Insect Repellent;

    • Snacks;

    • Backpack/Rucksack for carrying personal items;

    • Mobile phone or camera.

    • A change of clothes if you judge necessary: you can change in the restaurant or winery’s toilet

  • Wear comfy clothes, preferably the ones that you use for practicing sports that allow you to have freedom of movement. If you have brought cycling gear, such as padded bike shorts it is even better. In the week prior, we’ll keep you updated as it concerns the temperatures and if extra gear would be necessary. If you prefer, bring an extra change of clothes for the wine tasting (it is possible to use the winery’s toilet for changing)

  • Yes, you can participate with our own pushbike provided that you meet certain riquerements so that the whole group can stick together. In this case, send us a message prior to booking so that we can assess the fulfilling of these requirements.

  • During the week prior to the tour, we’ll be sending you updates via online messages so that you can prepare. Rain is not, isolatedly, a factor that halts us from cycling and actuating our tour. Prior to the day of the tour, our leaders will conduct a risk assessment based on multiple factors such as rain intensity, hidrogeologic risk, situation of the roads, visibility, among others in order to determine if a tour will proceed or will be postponed. In this last case, you’ll be offered the possibility of rescheduling it. If participation on the new proposed date is impossible, the amount will be fully refunded (depending on the payment method, management costs may be withheld)

  • We know this is a major issue and we take it seriously. So, one of the criterias we take into account when designing and running the tour is the availability of toilets along the way. Since public toilets in the hinterland (usually where we run our tours) are not very common, we depend on some cafeterias along the way or other private facilities where we usually stop also for exploring the local culture and interacting with residents. Thus, the answer is “yes, there’ll be toilets along the way” and the tour leader will address where they are positioned in the orientation briefing.

  • Our tours’ length are roughly 40km/24 miles. Our time on the bike can vary from 3 to 5 hours. Considering that we’ll always have stops along the way where you can refill your water container (in a water fountain linked to a public acqueduct or buying it), we suggest that you take a recepient of at least:

    • 0.75–1.0 liters (25–34 fl oz), which is the suggested volume to intake per hour of light–moderate activity in mild temperatures (<75F / 24C)

    • Adjust upward when:

      • Temperatures are hot (>75°F / 24°C): add 0.5–1.0 L.

      • You expect sustained climbing, higher effort, or fewer break opportunities: add 0.5 L.

      • You sweat heavily or are larger/older: add 0.5 L.

    • Electrolytes:

      • For rides over 90–120 minutes, or in heat, include a sports drink, electrolyte tablets, or salted snacks to replace sodium and minerals. Mixing one serving of electrolyte per 500–750 mL is common.

    • Carrying strategy:

      • Use a 1–2 L hydration pack or combine a 750–1000 mL bottle plus a 500–1000 mL bottle in frame cages. A hydration bladder keeps sipping easy; bottles are convenient for short stops.

    • Backup planning:

      • Know water refill points on your route (cafés, fountains, wineries) and carry a small water purification method only if traveling in remote areas without reliable refills.

    • Quick examples:

      • Mild 25 mi, temps 60–70°F, light effort: 1.5 L total.

      • Warm 25 mi, temps 75–85°F, moderate effort: 2.0–2.5 L total (plus electrolytes).

      • Hot or hilly 25 mi, heavy sweating: 2.5–3.0 L total (with electrolytes).

    Monitor thirst, urine color (pale yellow = good), and how you feel; drink regularly rather than waiting to be thirsty.

Hiking Tours

  • Mild Days (maximum of 90F / 28C)

    Bring at least 0,5 L of water for our shorter tours (< 5 km / 3 mi - 2-3 hours) and at least 1L for longer tours (> 5 km / 3 mi - 3 hours up). There’ll be places along the paths where you’ll be able to refill your containers (public acqueducts or sellers)

    Hot Days (> 90F / 28C)

    Add 30% on top to the volumes above. We’ll try to avoid these conditions anticipating the start time, abbreviating the itinerary and/or predicting more water stops during the hike.

    Ps. 1: Consider that the tour leader will be carrying an extra volume of potable water in case of shortage or other emergencies.

    Ps. 2: Don’t wait until you start feeling thirsty to start replacing lost fluid. By the time you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated! Your body can absorb only about one quart of fluid per hour. Drink one-half to one full quart of water or sports drink each and every hour you are hiking in the heat. Carry your water bottle in your hand and drink small amounts often

Bespoke Holidays

  • Absolutely Yes! Our company was born as a consequence of the bike trips of Augusto and Chiara. But, throughout our existence we came accross lots of marvellous fellows that we’re not travelling, like us, by bike and still would like to be assisted by our expertise. So, to simplify, yes, we can and we’re more and more specializing in creating bespoke holidays regardless of the logistics means people choose.

  • We’re not (still) a travel agency, so we can not book any kind of service to you. Our product contains the personalized itinerary designed, uploaded to an APP that will grant you access to your trip plan or road book in any moment of your trip with a click. All the services suggested will be listed in it and by clicking on them you’ll be redirected to the provider’s website where you can make the reservations yourself. The good news is that our fares don’t include the regular commisions that you’ll commonly find in this segment and you can do everything in autonomy and counting with our 24hs assistance.
