The tour starts with a warm welcoming at the local caffè Frankie, where you can get some refreshments or an italian coffee (not included). After introducing ourselves, we walk across the street to the yard of the museum to start the safety briefing. After aprox. 30 min, we’ll be ready to turn on our electrical engines and head out to Brisighella, located 15 km from Faenza.
Our path will cross the historical centre of Faenza, hitting important medieval highlights such as the People’s Square, the cradle of temporal power until today, full of caffès and where the local market happens once a week. Then, we say goodbye and turn towards the countryside. After crossing the city’s main river, the Lamone, we start transitioning to a much quieter and romantic realty. Medieval buildings give space to Elegant Villas and concrete makes way to fruit fields, turning the gray tones into a much wider spectrum, specially greener tones (during spring). After an hour through secondary roads, we cross again the Lamone and start climbing to reach the majestic Brisighella. Then its castle and the watchtower show up, reigning sovereign these lands.
Since we have an appointment at the Olive Oil Mill, we go straight to it. It takes 5 min cycling from the citadelle to get there. It is time to park our bikes, rest a little bit in the mill’s comfortable installations before start learning about the Gold of these lands. An introductory talk will be held for around 30 min and then we proceed to the tasting. Afterwards, you’ll have a little bit of time to spend at their shop for souvenirs.
We return to our saddles to reach Brisighella, where the light lunch will take place. Here, you’ll be given time to explore the marvels of this city such as the Donkey’s Alley, or the Watch Tower and wander around in the charming citadelle.
Then we regroup to return to Faenza. After approximately 2 hs cycling we expect to get to he International Museum of Ceramics, where our tour ends. If you have chosen to perform the optional guided visit in the museum, a local guide will accompaign you.
