Cycling tour in Italy that starts from the fascinating Siena and heads into its countryside, towards north. Equipped with our comfortable electric bikes, we enter tarmac secondary roads that intersect the Francigena Way, which lead us to oak woods, where contact with natural life is not uncommon. Along the way we will reach a well-maintained medieval tower and castle, with a stop for a coffee. We set off along a short section of well kept even gravel roads (2.7 miles) typical of Tuscany to arrive at the Monteriggioni Castle, where you’ll be granted some time to explore it and then take a break for a light lunch (gelato or sandwiches, not included). Time allowing (at the discretion of the tour leader) we jump back to our saddles to go to a fortified abbey which, during the Middle Ages, resided on an island. From here we return back to Siena through a set of secondary tarmac roads, crossing oak forests and taking in splendid views to the Chianti Classico mounts.
